Black tourmaline (schorl) is the most common member of the tourmaline group — complex boron silicate minerals. Its black color comes from high iron content. Tourmaline is piezoelectric and pyroelectric, generating an electrical charge when pressure or heat is applied. Schorl forms in granite pegmatites and is often found alongside quartz and feldspar.
Black Tourmaline Meaning & Healing Properties
The premier protective stone in crystal healing, black tourmaline creates an energetic forcefield that deflects negative energy, psychic attack, and electromagnetic frequencies. It is one of only a few stones that can be used for both protection and grounding simultaneously. Placed near electronics or at the four corners of a room, it creates a protective grid.
How to Use Black Tourmaline
- Protection against negative energy
- EMF and electromagnetic protection
- Grounding and stability
- Creating protective space grids
- Shielding during spiritual work
